Federal Government
EPA
 EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) home page.  This site has several pages of interest to “Concerned Citizens”, “Kids”, “Students and Teachers”, among other categories.  Excellent site for current information on environmental hazards and what can/is being done about them.  Provides search engine and links to other sites within the EPA organization.

NSF
 NSF (National Science Foundation) home page.  Very technical, but good place for educators (and future educators) to look for monetary support for educational programs.  Good source of information on what kinds of environmental programs and research the NSF (and your tax dollars) is invested in.

USDA
 USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) home page.  Huge site for federal agriculture and forestry service programs and information.  Click on “Agencies” to access agricultural programs and Forestry program.  Also contains search engine.

USFWS
 U.S.F.W.S. (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service) home page.  Excellent source of information on federal programs concerned with monitoring and preserving endangered species, game species, and habitat preservation.  Online subscription to FWS magazine is free.  Also contains search engine.

USGS
 USGS (U.S. Geological Survey) home page.  Good source of information on Federal initiatives in environmental problems (among a plethora of other topics).

USGS Biological Resources Page
 Biological resources page of the USGS (U.S. Geological Survey).  Lots of information here, but extremely slow at times.  Otherwise, good for kids, teachers, students, scientists, etc.   Great general interest page mostly dealing with plants and animals.  Excellent pictures.  Also contains search engine.

USGS National Land Cover Data
Digital maps based on aerial photographs for GIS use.

US National Park Service
 U.S. National Park Service home page.  Find out what the park service is doing to preserve U.S. wilderness and historical areas.  Get information on parks you might want to visit.

Texas State Government
Texas Natural Resources
 Texas natural resources information service page.  Extremely technical, but all the maps you've ever wanted to have of Texas (including aerial photos, satellite images, GIS images, etc) are here.  Includes maps of natural resources (aquifers, vegetation, etc..).

Texas Parks and Wildlife
 The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s home page.  This is the most important site for those interested in  Texas Wildlife and state programs that are intended to encourage wildlife appreciation.  Some money and assistance available here for those interested in teaching biology (K through 12).  Includes links to other related sites.

TCEQ
  The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (formerly the Texas Natural Resources and Conservation Commission) home page.  The state equivalent of the EPA.  This is where to look for Texas examples of problems with hazardous substances and how the state is dealing with them.

Audubon Society
 Home page for the National Audubon Society.  Lots of information for anyone here (kids and up) who is interested in birds and bird conservation.

Audubon Society - Texas Chapters
 Home page for Texas Chapters of the National Audubon Society.  Good page for all levels (kids and up), but focus is mainly birds.

EnviroLink Network
 An environmental information clearinghouse - daily news, forums, information about products, information about on-going environmental issues, links to environmental organizations.

Environmental Organization WebDirectory
  A web directory of every kind of environmental organization you can think of divided into categories

The National Wildlife Federation
 A group that supports grassroots activities, wildlife restoration, and lobbies for state and federal policies.
Lots of information about wildlife and habitat conservation and about science education here.  There is mechandise for sale here as well.

The Nature Conservancy
 The Nature Conservancy home page.  Good pictures and information.  This private organization is dedicated to the preservation of ecologically sensitive ecosystem through donor supported programs.  Excellent site for anyone interested in nature and conservation.

The Nature Conservancy - Texas Chapter
 Like the previous page, but this one deals only with the Texas Chapter of the Nature Conservancy.  Describes all the projects currently underway – real interesting site.

Sierra Club
 Home page for the Sierra Club.  I have not explored this site.

The Texas Academy of Sciences
  A professional society for scientists and science educators in Texas.

The Wildlife Society
  A professional society for scientists and students in wildlife and conservation

The Wildlife Society - Texas Chapter
  A professional society for scientists and students in wildlife and conservation

World Wildlife Fund
 World Wildlife Fund home page.  This international, private organization has lots of information regarding global environmental issues and what they are attempting to do to help alleviate these problems.
