OBJECTIVES:
- Students will be able to describe and explain significant folktales
- The students will be able to increase their writing and comprehension skills.
- The students will be able to compare and contrasts different stories.
- The student will be able to evaluate the similarities and differences between the cultures of the folktales.
RESOURCES/MATERIALS:
- Computers
- Access to the Internet or WWW
- Software
- Posterboard
- Pencil and Paper
ACTIVITIES:
- The students will go to the library and do preliminary research on Texas folktales
- The students will then be placed in groups and discuss the folktales.
- The students will go to the computer lab and access the Internet for information on Texas Folktales.
- Each student will create a folktale
- Students will present folktales to class
FOLLOW-UP:
Evaluation will be done in four ways: teacher's examinations, quizzes, homework assignments and class participation. Provided additional instruction: reading assignments will be given daily. Activities are as such: in-class group projects, jeopardy and other related games that will bring interest and excitement into learning.
