MATERIALS: Internet connection using a graphical interface (Netscape, Internet Explorer, etc.), word processor (such as ClarisWorks, etc.), printer
PROCEDURE: Have the students students go to Elementary Science This Month. Scroll down to "Animal of the Month" and click to access a picture and information about a different monthly animal. Have students read the information about the animal making notes of important information.
Have your students use Yahoo! Search Engine to search for other sites that have your animals name to find more information on their animals. Enter the word "animal" and your animal's name to narrow the search somewhat. What other information can your students find? How does it compare with the previously mentioned site's information?
When your student finds a site with relevant information, have her record information for the following topics:
Students may wish to send specific questions to scientists for answers or use HyperStudio to create a stack telling all about their animals.
