Integrating Computers in Middle School Lesson Plans

OBJECTIVES:
- TLW list events in sequence.
RESOURCES/MATERIALS:
- Journals
- Pen/pencil
- Cartoon strips from newspaper
- Poster board
- Art materials
- Any favorite children's book where the plot follows in order
ACTIVITIES:
- (Displayed on the Computer by AV link or on overhead.) Students will respond to the following journal entry. (Teachers: place list of events out order and ask students to put in correct order. Ask students of importance to this.
- Read book that you chose aloud to the students.
- On the overhead or computer with TV solicit answers and list events as they occurred in the story..
- Discuss with students real life events that we do in order.
a. witness to a crime
b. recipes
c. booting up a program
- In groups of 4 have students put already prepared and out of order cartoon strips in order.
- EXTRA: Teachers a short worksheet would be great here for student who finish before others.
- HOMEWORK: On a full size poster board, students will construct a 10-15 square story board illustrating the events in which they occurred in the book.
FOLLOW-UP:
Students will present story boards the first 10 minutes of class the following day.
