Master
of Music in Music Education – Elementary Specialization
Summer Program
Designed to address the
professional development needs of music teachers in the field,
the Master of Music Education program prepares individuals for
careers as master teachers
in elementary and secondary schools. Students are challenged to
develop a greater understanding
and mastery of the music teaching-learning processes, to improve
personal musicianship, and to
become leaders within the music education profession.
This flexible, practical, 36-hour program is designed for the
professional music educator and can
be completed in three years.
The program offers a
combination of graduate coursework in
elementary music education (11 hours), music history, research,
philosophy, and theory (15 hours),
performance study opportunities
(4 hours), and electives (3 hours).
Students are required to
complete an independent study project and a comprehensive exam.
Up to nine (9) credit hours may be transferred from another university.
Additionally, Orff or Kodaly
courses may be transferred in, even if they were not taken for
credit.
No GRE Exam is required.
